It doesn't happen so often that your fave sports team gets to the Finals. I am somewhat lucky that I have experienced that. Firstly with the Mavericks when they beat the San Antonio Spurs in a best of 7 OT win. We were so confident that they're going to win the NBA Finals, since it's been forever that the West is a superior conference. But it didn't happen. They 'choke' and there were bad calls, and the harder they climb to the Finals, the quicker they vanished and lost. It was heartbreaking. To think that we waited years for them to be there. They were overconfident, they didn't think of how to finish the series.
Now, it's the Rangers time. Actually, it is a storied series so far. Aside from being the lowest paid team that was in the brink of bankruptcy, and players and coaches getting themselves in trouble but rising again, defeating the mighty AL East, the Rays and the NY Yankee empire, losing both the 2-0 and 3-1 advantages and coming back again...It has been a suspensful series. So far, I am proud of how the Rangers have come, they were not expected to reach the World Series, but they are here now. And making it on their first Division and Conference Series is already an accomplishment. I love the Rangers for what they have achieved in a small amount of time, rather than the Mavs that were always on top but still took them long enough and still couldn't finish. So right now, on this Game 1 of the World Series, I'm not going to expect anything, because my Rangers have already so far delivered more than what their fans expected. I am going to enjoy watching our team, and win or lose we're gonna be proud of them. Winning will just be a bonus.
